The History of The KLT
 The
first recorded theatrical activity in Kuwait's oil era dates back
to 1947 when a group of Kuwait Oil Company employees met in the
old Magwa Club and called themselves "The KUOCO Independent
Players".
 Their
first production in 1948 was staged in a large nissen hut located
in the Ahmadi Industrial Area. Rehearsals were usually held in the
producer's or a member's home. As the building was also the local
cinema the sets were often built and painted out in the open and

 KLT
Online was originally set up to boost ticket sales for Sinbad in
December 1999. It has since become an indispensable link to what's
going on at the theatre.
80%
of all ticket booking are now conducted through the web site's booking
form facility and the Kuwait community is always just an email away
when news breaks thanks to the website's automated emailing list.

We are pleased to finally have added a complete list of KLT shows stretching back through the theatre's 56 year history. Anyone with information, pictures or programmes from any of these productions please get in touch as we would love to add to this archive. The productions marked with an asterisk are those we have surviving programme copies from and information from these will be added over the next few months. We would also love to hear from past directors and producers mentioned in this list so we can add contact addresses and bios, and even pictures, to their names. |

The KLT is run entirely by volunteers.
A committee is elected annually and anyone with an interest in the
society is free to stand for election. As a KOC club some positions,
including Chairman and Treasurer, can only be held by KOC employees
or wives of KOC employees.
